Families & Community

North Wall encourages family and community involvement in the school.  This includes driving on field trips for your child’s class, volunteering in the classroom on a regular basis, or coming in just once to share a special talent or interest with students.  You might also consider serving on the Parent Advisory Board and planning parties and events for the classroom or serving on the North Wall Children’s Association Board which sponsors several service projects and several fundraisers each year.

Community involvement includes weekly field trips for the older students in the summer and monthly field trips year-round for all children preschool age and older.  We also welcome specialists from the community who visit our classrooms to give guest presentations that enhance learning about topics which the students are studying. We also sponsor Roots and Wings, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of Indigenous children in rural Guatemala

North Wall encourages local community involvement through sponsoring many service organizations such as 2nd Harvest Food Bank, Kira’s Kloset, and Mission Community Outreach Center.   In addition, we are dedicated to helping our children become aware of the needs outside of our borders.  One of our alumni, Erik Swanson, is the founder of Roots and Wings International (www.rootsandwingsintl.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of Indigenous children in rural Guatemala.  We sponsor this organization in several different ways.
